Study abroad in Israel?

American Muslim wanting to study in Israel?

• Yeah, so I'm an American muslim of Pakistani descent. My name is "Mohammed." I want to go study abroad for a semester. My college gave me a variety of options, but the one I liked most was Israel. I've always been intrigued by the city of Jerusalem and would love to see it with my own eyes. I have nothing against Jews, but I'm kind of reluctant because of current tensions between Muslims and Israelis. Should I go or not?

  I am an Israeli Jew. I was thinking whether to answer your question or not. First of all the our Universities are very good and you will enjoy the quality of education. But you might be tested on personal level. How religious are you? What if someone (a Muslim) will challenge you by saying that participation in some illegal activities that would involve violence against Jews is your religious duty as a Muslim? I am not making any assumptions as to what would be your reply. I am asking you if you are anticipating such dilemmas and pear pressures as a possibility and if you are ready to deal with something like this. It is a question to consider. As for Jews - you might experience some negativity from some individuals, but in general you should expect no problems. We are tolerant people as a rule. That is even more so in Universities. If you go to any other place where there are no religious tensions that involve your religion you will avoid those problems all together. So I don't know if to tell you yes or no but hopefully I gave you some food for thought
