A forensic scientist uses scientific disciplines like analytical chemistry to examine crime scenes and evidence. A lab technician basically. A forensic pathologist performs autopsies and other medical tests on dead bodies and their ilk to aid in the solving of crimes. A forensic pathologist is a licensed physician who went to medical school following four years of college, then did an internship and then a full residency as a physician in a pathology program. The oathology residency program alone takes four more years. A forensic scientist is more of a general term given to anyone who works in forensics. Forensics is applying a broad range of sciences to find an answer.
