Where is a good place in Southern Connecticut to rent?

My boyfriend and I are moving to Connecticut after we graduate law school (May 20, 2012). I am going to be taking a NY BAR prep course in White Plains, NY and he is going to be interning in Danbury, CT so we need a good place that we can afford and where we can both commute to. We only want to spend about $1500 on rent. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know! We are not sure as to where the best cities to look even are. Oh also, I would like to mention that I am from California so this is totally new to me. I prefer a place that has a washer and dryer, a place to park, and central heating and air. Anyway, thanks your all your help.
