What should my prom date wear to match my navy blue dress?

• My dress is a V-neck in navy blue and I was going to opt for gold jewelry and gold shoes instead of silver. We are both supposed to match but how should he dress to match me? Also he does not want to wear a full suit; he likes to wear vests and button up shirts. Please help with the color combo options so we will look like a couple but so we don't overload on the blue for the pictures! Thanks everyone!

  Khakis and a navy blazer might be too casual. Navy slacks, light blue dress shirt and nice tie. There are also lots of vest/bow tie sets available from the rental places. BTW, to the gentleman above: girls wear corsages and guys wear boutonnieres. Stay away from dyed flowers, as they are just tacky.
