What are the symptoms of ms?

I'm showing symptoms of MS, but no one in my family has MS, could I still have it?

  • My mom has an autoimmune disease that's not MS. No one in my family has MS. Because my mom has an autoimmune disease could I have MS?

  • Answer:

Hi Hayden, It appears that autoimmune diseases sometimes do run in families. That being said, just because no one else in your family has MS does not mean mean that you could not develop the disease. Most of us who have MS do not have another family member who has it. Keep in mind that all the symptoms of MS mimic many other diseases and conditions. Most people who think that they have it, find out that they are suffering from anxiety which is a treatable problem. My best to you. I hope that you do not have MS. However if you do, keep in mind that there is lot and lots of living to do after diagnosis. Most of us live relatively normal lives.
