Diabetic foot health care?

  • I have started noticing on the heel of my foot, and the big toes I have been getting alot of hard skin. Sometimes hurts slightly on the ball of my right foot with preasure. Lastly there is a red/ purple mark in between my toe and toenail on my big toe it used to be white ages ago. Im seeing the doctor tomorrow about a different issue but are these worth mentioning.

Yes, any changes in your feet (legs, hands, arms, extremeties) should be brought to your doctor's attention. It sounds like your circulation has diminished and your feet are being affected. You need to keep your feet moisturized to avoid the skin cracking or any opening happening so bacteria can't get in. My diabetes trainer recommended Kerasal One Step Foot Exfoliating Moisurizer Foot Therapy (I get if from Walgreens in the same section Dr. Scholl's food care products is in but I don't know if this stuff is available worldwide).

Doesn't sound anything to worry about, make sure you use cream on the feet to soften the skin or file the hard skin away - my partner is a diabetic and constantly hard dried cracked skin on his feet, cover the feet with moisturiser, the doctor gives him Double-Base cream and wrap cling film around the feet and sit with your feet up for a few hours then wash them and it helps soften the skin do this every few weeks, Good luck

I have that on the bottom of my feet and where you say, they say its normal. I use nail file and then skin cream.
