How To Bake Chicken?

How long should I bake chicken breasts in the oven for?

  • I have 800g (1.76 lbs) of chicken breasts that I want to bake in the oven. They will be marinating in a sticky moroccan mixture for 6 hours prior. Should I put all the chicken in the roasting dish with the marinate, or just pull out the chicken and put it in by itself? Should I put any butter/oil in the dish so the chicken doesn't stick? How long and at what temp? Thanks.

  • Answer:

Take the chicken out from the marinade. Grease your pan(or whatever you are using) with oil before putting the chicken in. Then cover the pan with tin foil. This prevents drying out. If you cut the chicken into pieces, then I would say 375 F for 30 minutes. If you didn't cut the chicken, 375 F for 45 minutes. It takes longer time to bake if it's in big chunks. Before taking it out, cut a portion in the middle to check if everything is cooked.

Pull the chicken out of the marinade. You could spray the bottom of the pan with oil. Bake at 350 for 35 minutes, then check for doneness.

Read your recipe. You should stick to a recipe until you know how to cook without one. Chicken should be cooked and not pink in the middle. You can tell when something isn't cooked. I would take it out of the marinade and could it by itself because all that marinade mixture contains bacteria from the chicken. You can't reuse it. The chicken is already coated so I doubt you need anything else in the dish or pan. Go to websites that have recipes similar to this and see how they cook it. Food Network, AllRecipes, RecipeBazaar, etc. are all good.
