What should I do about college?
-
I am in a pickle. I'm 19 years old, I should be a freshmen in college right now but I took a year off like an idiot. I wanna go to college to major in Sports Management. I'm planning on going to Pensacola Christian College. But the only problem is it isn't accredited. Not only that, i don't think i would get a job if they saw I got my degree from a bible college. (Don't get me wrong I love Jesus.. I'm just afraid my beliefs wil lstop me from getting a good job.) should I just go to a community college and transfer to a 4 year college instead? Please give me your opinions, because I'm really lost :( what would you do in my situation?

Answer:
Taking one or even 5 years after high school to go to college is something normal and even something that it is recommended. I would never go to a school that isn't accredited, simply because your degree would be worth as much as any piece of paper I can print in my computer. I would say that me even being a little bit agnostic, would hire someone from an accredited Christian school if they can prove to me hey can do the work. If I were you I would try going to a community college and then transfer to a 4 year university.

Having a degree from a Christian college is not a problem when looking for a job. Having a degree from an unaccredited college is a big problem. Many Christian 4 year colleges are accredited and have good reputations. I would apply to accredited four year colleges, see where you get accepted and what financial package you get. You can always decide to go to a CC after your results are in

I have a friend who is 19 and getting worked up about going back to school so first of all, my advice would be to calm down. Your still young. I think its great that you wanna go back to school! I think if you want to go to a Bible College then that is great :D But I would advise going to a credited university. An unaccredited university is what is going to lessen your chances of getting a job. If you go to a community college, complete your associates degree before transferring. I made the mistake of transferring before I complete it. If you don't want to complete an associates, ensure that all the classes you take will transfer to the 4yr University you plan on attending. You can do this by finding a list on commonly accepted classes or emailing the admissions or transfer department to see what they can do to help. Do you have any other questions?
