What career should I take?

Can't decide what course to take. Would a Physical therapist be a good career?

• My mom wants me to take culinary and my dad wants me to take either law or architecture. That's both their dreams that they couldn't follow. But i'm not interested in either I originally wanted to take up psychiatry because well i find it interesting how the mind works and helping people and stuff. But my parents didn't really want that for me because it doesn't earn much where i live. Although it earns a lot abroad but it would take years for me to establish a good name for myself to get a good pay. So since my parents didn't really support that my back up plans were Accounting = because i find math easy because i love it. Apparently, Accountants are always in demand with all the new businesses rising and everything. And i think it would be cool to pass the bar and be an official CPA. = but i'm not really interested with having anything to do with business and there are also so many people who are gonna be accountants and are probably better than me in math. Chemical Engineering = I found chemistry in my junior year to be a very very easy subject and its rather fun once you get the hang of it like math. You could earn alot with this career choice depending on how well you do. = They said you could earn a lot with this by teaching abroad, pursuing more research or making your own products/businesses. Teaching is something i don't want to do. Business, like i said earlie is not my forte. And I'm not that much of an explorative science loving person. I just think the subject was easy. Then suddenly my dad suggested PT. I think that would be ok. But the thing is i don't really know much about it besides helping injured people get back in shape. Well something like that. I like helping people, but since i can't take psychiatry now, PT is another option. And apparently it pays a lot abroad. But then im worried that my logical reasoning and math skills would go to waste somehow. Being a doctor is something i don't think i can handle. Although i love the arts, i don't see myself with a future there coz im not good at art stuff. Business is something im not interested in at all. Any more insights on taking the course of PT and what that career may hold in the future that i should know about? Or any other ideas?

  Judging from your high levels of comfort with complex subjects I am not convinced that PT would be the best route for you. The big problem is that, even though the course is theoretically challenging, the actual job is very hands-on. Depending on where you are situated you can make a pretty good living out of it. You seem more at ease with theoretical subjects and reasoning. As much as you may believe that you are not into explorative research, I think you have very strong traits related to becoming a very good researcher. I would suggest going for a general science or engineering degree which would help you explore different options for specialisation. It is rare to know precisely what you want to do with your life before university and many students change their mins midway because they went through a process of self-discovery. As far as earnings are concerned, consider the fact that we live in a highly globalised world - you don't have to earn your money where you live. I earn my money from the USA and live in a completely different country about 13 000 miles from there.
