Is it hard to buy an apartment in London?

Buy or Rent - Apartment in London?

  • Hi. I Get a job transfer to London in July, I'm thinking to buy a small flat in London. Is possible I buy an apartment in London with £60.000.00 ? And, what size and (rental value) (approximately) ? Need not be near the center. Do you think that is better I pay rent or buy ? My salary should be approximately £600 per week. It is a good salary in London ? I'm single. I hope your help. Thank you.

You'd be lucky to buy more than a cardboard box in London with that amount. Look at RightMove for prices. Also, generally if you don't know the place you should start by renting - then youl'l get an idea of what things cost, how far your salary goes, where you actually want to live. Don't forget that on top of rent you'll have council tax, utilities (gas/electricity/water), phone/internet, food, transport...

Have a look on Rightmove and be prepared for a shock. London is the most expensive city in the UK.

I'm sorry , but you'll never get a flat for £60, 000 in London...think nearer to £600,000and you'll be there..if you're earning £600 a week you should be able to rent..this will cost about £320.00 a week on average.
