Would a DUI charge stop me from getting this job?

Can someone become a truck driver with a DUI?

• My boyfriend got a DUI in December 2007. He has been sober (as in not had a drink since that night and regularly attends AA meetings to prove it) and it was expunged, but he says it still shows up on your DMV record for awhile after that. He really wants to start truck driving school but is convinced the DUI will stop him from getting a job. I am reading that you could get a job anywhere from 3-15 years after a DUI conviction, and I keep telling him they might give him a chance since it's been almost five years and he's definitely been sober the whole time. Any advice? Does anyone have suggestions I can give him and/or experience with this? I know a lot of truck drivers but none with DUIs. I think it'd be the perfect job for him but he's getting discouraged. Any help is appreciated!

  My boyfriend is a trucker and he has a DUI so yes he can but it also depends on how long you have gotten it, different companies require so much of a length of time. Have him go to a temp agency they will hopefully be able to find him some work and answer some questions that he needs answered, my boyfriend found work through the temp agency so I think that would be a good starting place.
