How do you replace driver side window in 1987 trooper?

How much to repair/replace driver side window motors?

  • I drive a 2003 Ford Taurus. The Glass is not the problem, it's the motor, I have power windows but when I push the button there's no response. This is for the front and back windows both on the driver side. Passenger side windows are working.

  • Answer:

If both left windows quit at the same time, it's probably the switch. If they quit separately, it will probably be the window motors themselves. With a 9 year old car it could be either one. These window motors could be purchased rebuilt for as little as $50-$60 apiece or they could be higher depending on where you buy them. Just don't buy salvage motor or a rebuilt part from AutoZone. I never had good luck with either one. You'll need to check, but your window motor may be part of cable driven regulator assembly and the last one I did was for a 95 Lincoln. Cost was @$300 plus labor. This was in 2006.

Could be a fuse or other problem. Take the car to a good auto glass shop. They usually fix window motors and associated problems cheaper than everyone else.
