What size rear tires should I get?

  • I have a 1991 Toyota MR2 NA. Trying to get my car ready for inspection next month. Just got my speedo working again now i'm looking to get a new pair of rear tires this weekend. The ones on there currently are pretty bald (the exact opposite of the front tires) and I just wanted a recommendation on what size tires I should get. This is one area of my car I probably have paid the least attention to sad to say. My car came with rims and tires when I got my car 2 years ago. I haven't put too much thought into tires until now although I know this is an important asset for a smooth ride. Current set-up: 17" Enkei RS5 rims Talon TR968 tires Stock 91 NA suspension 205/40R17 Front 205/40R17 Rear I always felt like my rear tires looked smaller than my front tires even though they are the same size. Would like to get bigger tires in the rear. How does 215/40R17 sound? Please keep in mind that MR2's came with slightly bigger tires in the rear from the factory so I would like to go a little bigger (front tires have plenty of tread left on them).
