Want to start an online business - Do I need a license?
-
Hi, I'm currently 16 years old, soon to be 17 this July. Right now, I have no luck in finding a job & I need the money. I was thinking about maybe start a small online business where I can sell paintings, photography, knitting things, some crafts, and some stuffs that I no longer want. I'm wondering if I need to get some license before I start this online business. I live in Ohio if that helps. I'm hoping I don't because I really love to sell things. Thanks. :)

I dont think you do. However I am very good at this topic. For you, I would recommend etsy.com . It's a website devoted to selling things that are hand made. Arts, crafts, cloths, and things like that are sold on that site. It's professional and all you have to do is sign up. If you want your own site, then use blogger.com it is owned by google so you get more traffic and more compatibly with google products. You can check out my site, "simplebotics" for an example. Hope this helps :)

Hi Ashly, I am going to refer you to another question where I wrote a lot and was given 5 stars. The information is mostly applicable to your situation, if not tailored a little more to people located in the UK. http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AjoppjPj9lSyjVHqcLSpzDk0J3RG;_ylv=3?qid=20120430111356AAQcl9x I will add to this however: In the UK there is no licence required, I would suggest as my fellow members that online retailer like ebay, amazon and especially etsy, as they are online portals that will allow you to find prospective customers. etsy is a site similar to ebay and amazon, but is dedicated to arty crafty kinds of people, like yourself. Remember starting a business is a big commitment, less so on ebay etc but you will be more successful if you stick at it and work hard. In, conclusions Yahoo answers can only help so much, consider getting out into your local community and seeing if you can find a local market there for local photography or other avenues for revenue. I write every week, currently on my own experiences, but in the future, it will be on ideas, my view of the world etc, and as an aspiring entrepreneur of a similar age, you may find it interesting. notsooldentrepreneur.blogspot.co.uk
