Best post-hardcore bands?

Why do metalcore/posthardcore/screamo… bands even exist?

  • All these ******* teenagers love this ****. They actually think this is metal. This is what gives metal a bad name, when someone says asking Alexandria they say that's metal. It pisses me off. All of these bands are fusion bands punk and thrash metal combined, so it's not real metal. It's just some teenage fad, these teenagers think high school is so hard they need something to relate to, **** you teenagers suck it up. It's sad when somebody calls Death screamo, I want to punch them, it's all because of these pussy metalcore bands. These bands are also painfully generic, they all try to sound the same and write lyrics about teenage problems yet their in their 20's. It's all corporate marketing you are all idiots

  • Answer:

My boyfriend's 12 year old son gets molested by his new step-dad and bullied in school because he suffers from Aspergers and he's currently in the Psych wing of the hospital because he tried to cut himself with a kitchen knife (my bf's going to try to get custody. Something has to be done). Do you think he should just suck it up? You don't know what kids go through or why they need to listen to bands like that. Sometimes it's not just about how heavy the music is, but the connection that people feel to it. Maybe all of the "Die! Die! Die!", "Hail Satan" stuff works for some people and that's cool, but not everyone can relate to that. I mean, it does annoy me when kids are supposed to be fans of bands but don't even know what genre they are, but as long as these bands can help get them through whatever it is that they're dealing with, I see no problem with them listening to them. PS I'm sorry, but I believe that what really gives Metal a bad name is all of the elitist fans who can't accept that not everyone in the world is going to like everything that they do and that others are going to like things that they don't. If you don't like a certain kind of music, fair enough. You don't have to listen to it, but that doesn't mean that you have to put down everyone who does. I personally can't stand Country, especially since it's all that my family listens to, but I'm not trolling the Country section dissing Toby Keith and Blake Shelton and anyone who likes them. I'd rather just focus on the music that I do like. If you'd rather listen to real Metal, then listen to your real Metal and let the teenagers listen to their Metalcore or whatever the hell they want to listen to. Then everyone could be happy.

All I see you do is leave your unwanted opinion all over the goddamned place. The funny thing is, my best friend is just like you. You are so close minded about your music. It absolutely HAS to be perfect and "epic" with instrumentals or it isn't considered music. If it isn't a hard rock band with a killer guitar riff, then it is nothing to you. The funny thing is, I don't care much for "screamo" or "emo" bands either, but I really wanted to get that out there. Good luck with an answer to your question. Just know there are people that ask the same about the music you listen to as well.

No matter how much you deny it... it's a sub-genre of metal. If you don't like it, don't listen to it. but I agree some bands play a little harder rock music and try to pass it as metal but people are gonna listen to what they like so...

Cuz they can appeal to teenagers who are having problems and can make big $$, and what do you mean it's not metal, of course it is, just cuz it's not judas priest,Megadeth, or Metallica, it is still awesome metal.

First of all, awesome avatar, In Flames rules. Now to answer your question, or at least give my opinion. Screamo bands do suck, Asking Alexandria, Suicide Silence, etc. All those bands suck a fat hairy asshole. BUT, those bands aren't Metalcore. In fact, Metalcore isn't half bad. There are some amazing Metalcore bands, for example: Between The Buried And Me, Killswitch Engage, Lamb Of God, Machine Head, etc. Those are all incredible Metalcore bands, especially Between The Buried And Me. And you should check them out. Have a listen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=19UZd_DKs2Q Listen to the whole song, at the end it gets very melodic and beautiful, they have one of the best guitarists ever. And technically it's Progressive Melodic Death Metal. But their two albums had some Metalcore attributes so they are classified as Metalcore. But don't worry, there's nothing generic about it, and there's no cheesy cliche' Metalcore breakdowns either. And the lyrics aren't about anything stupid. They're very literate, and they have some sort of deep meaning. And for Post-Hardcore, I'm not a huge fan of the genre, but the bands Falling In Reverse, and In Her Memory are pretty good in my opinion, I know the band members personally. And I enjoy the music, but that's my opinion. And Emo, I hate Emo music. But the Metalcore and Post-Hardcore bands I listen to don't sing about Emo crap. And all the teenage problem lyrics are from Pop-Punk bands. A Day To Remember, Blink-182, Sum 41, all that crap. THAT'S crappy music. Hope I helped? Haha EDIT: I know they aren't technically Metalcore, But their first two albums to me sounded kinda "Core-y" I guess. That's a bad explanation. That's the only reason why I somewhat consider them Metalcore. But for the most part they are Progressive/Technical/Whatever you want to call it.
