AOL, visited links no longer change color to show they have been read?
-
I have been using AOL for several years. I've noticed that after a while links I have visited no longer change color to show they have been read, and I have to delete my browser history/cookies in internet explorer. It used to take several months before it was time to do this, but more recently it happens every couple of weeks. I don't have this problem with the visited links when I do use internet explorer, but maybe that's just because I don't use it nearly as often. I have tried increasing the number of days web sites remain in history and the amount of disk space used for temporary internet files. This used to work but does not anymore. Before, I believed the problem could be due to an older computer. But now I have a newer one, and it has the same problem. Another strange thing is that randomly a link on a site will change color to show that it has been read, but if I click on another similar link on the site (or go to a different web site) it will not do it again. Also, before I clear the browsing history and cookies, the links I visited before they stopped changing color still do show that they have been read. It's just that the new links I click on won't change color. The problem might coincide with the AOL upgrades (7.0, 9.0, etc), but I'm not sure. Is there any way to increase the amount of time that the visited links will still change color before I need to clear the browsing history and cookies? I know most people aren't fond of the program, but it does have some features I like so I would like to keep using it.

Answer:
Really... AOL and IE are really old and nearly unusable. Generally when you are using a browser, the links/history won't change unless you clear the history. You may have a external program like TuneUp Utilities cleaning it every few weeks.
