Whats this type of art?

If im unable to take Muay Thai, whats another brutual type of martial art i can take, read description?

  • Lemme start off by saying I'm a big kid and i wanna take a brutual martial art like muay thai where there is no gimmicks and it'll teach me how to defend myself as well as teach me some self discipline, the prices for muay thai in my area are outstanding and I wanna type of combat where its brutual and I can rely on it...the krav maga dojo in my area is a joke as well as a mcdojo so I can't take that, I wanna style that incorporates kicks, punches, knees, and elbows, if were to take a form of karate, can somebody reccomend some good styles? Thanks a bunch

If you're looking for Karate schools that focus on sparring then look to see if there are any Seidokaikan or Kyokushin schools in your area.

I hate these questions, that ask what style is the most brutal and deadly, and channels your inner angst and anger. It screams insecurity and it just shows you how little you know about martial arts.

Keyboard Warrior

styles are not brutal, people are what matters is how you train not what you train

Kokoro

You said in your question if you were to take a type of karate so my answer is Kyokushin or Shotokan karate where everything is used as a weapon.. P.S If there is an Sanshou dojo you may like it imagine muay thai with ground fighting plus learning weapons plus pressure points...Thats sanshou.

Heed these ancient words of wisdom passed down from master to master for generations, the words of Da Mo himself: When you are unsure of what path to take, repeatedly strike your head with an iron wok as hard as you can for as many hours as are needed. In time, the answer will come.

Find any dojo that is not a McDojo, go to class, learn what they have to teach you, go home, practice each technique that you learn one thousand times each day against a tree.

MMA will trump all of these contradicting ''self defense styles''. A good offense is the best defense.

All these arts don't focus on flashy movements and focus on hurting people and are fairly basic in the motion. Kenpo Karate teaches those attacks and sometimes grappling too. I learned all those in my class with Systema. It became a mixed martial art with Kenpo as a base. Kenpo is similar to Krav Maga but it strikes all over the body and doesn't focus so much on hitting one spot 10 times. Which I consider better because it makes the opponent react more and it hits more intricate spots on the body. However, if you want to see if done right Google master Huk. Those other "masters" are self promoted ***** who don't know what the **** they are doing. Muay Thai is not what you would call brutal it is a sport art really. Muay Boran is more brutal. I also like Wing Chun. It is and isn't a sport art. You can use parts of it for sport but the whole art itself is more fight real fighting. You get to fight people from a very short range using it. Youtube or Google IP Man. See his videos and then rate it for yourself. Maybe check out some of the fight techniques on Youtube from other practitioners. Systema is very very brutal and you get hurt every class. They hit your body to cause more pain so you toughen up. So when someone hits you it won't even phase you. Also they teach you how to breath when you hit someone or get hit and combine it with no touch or very light touch takedowns. By that I mean you barely touch the guy and they go on the floor. It works too. The Russian military uses it. Google Vladimir Systema. His teacher is unreal at the stuff too. MCMAP if you can find someone who teaches it. I have seen some teachers but not a ton.. Youtube this one and get an idea of it. San Shou is also a pretty good one to learn. Finally maybe someone in your area teaches Sambo. It is a pretty cool art -basic and brutal- and very effective from what I have seen. ------------- Remember: All styles are brutal but the real work is from the user. However, I do believe some styles are better than others and give you an edge. But I think so in the rock paper scissors sense. Where one style beats another but another style beats the one that just beat it.. So in the end it doesn't matter what you learn... As long as you avoid Taekwondo. Even the traditional one.

Well Silat or Kyokushin Karate or Eskrima Silat: Silat is an indonesian and malaysian martial art that involves all attacks and is a fast, acrobatic and brutally efficient martial art, it is hard to find a silat dojo but there is never any Mcdojos. if you want to see silat watch the raid redemption. Kyokushin Karate: Kyokushin is a full contact form of karate and is good for discipline, respect and self defence. there is no weapons or grappling but there is striking. kyokushin is somewhat hard on your body (as is silat) but if your willing for a challenge go for kyokushin. Eskrima: Eskrima is a fillipino martial art and it involves stick and knife fighting, but the techniques can be used without a weapon. eskrima is a fairly popular art and can be found all over the place and they are normally not Mcdojos. hope this helps.
