What is a good beginner fly rod and reel combo?

Buying a rod and reel separately (beginner)?

• I am still new to fishing, I usually go once a week to the keys, Islamorada etc... I currently use a 8' rod that came with reel and line included. It wasn't an expensive one about $30. Now I bought a Penn Squadron 7' Extra Fast Action rod without the reel. I am not really sure if this is a good buy or not, I've tried searching for reviews but hard to find. I am now looking for a reel to go with the rod. Something in the $30-$50 range. I paid $40 for the rod. Are there any rod/reel combo I can get instead for that same price of better quality? Or am I going the right direction? And if so, what would be a good reel option for this rod? Any info appreciated!!

  You probably wont find a decent reel for that price,lucky if you do.A Penn reel would match what you have for the present rod,and it'd last your lifetime,worth the extra $ ,you'd never have to buy another one,and go with it.
