How often can I use a semi-permanent hair dye?

Can i use purple hair dye to tone the brass out of my blonde hair?

  • i bleached my hair a couple days ago and it turned out brassy in some spots. i know that if i use a shampoo with purple tones in it it'll fix it, but i don't have shampoo like that. i do, however, have purple hair dye. i used the purple hair dye under my bangs just to see how dark it was, but when i washed it out none of the purple stayed in my hair, although it did lighten some of the brass out of it and make it a mostly bleach blonde color. so, my question is, if i use the purple hair dye on all of the brassy parts will it tone it? and if so, how long do i have to keep it in my hair? i don't want to just jump into this, and accidentally dye all of my hair purple... also, the dye is semi-permanent

I wouldnt do that, unless you want to risk discoloring your hair. Wait it out and buy a purple based toner.

Nah don't use the purple because the parts of the hair that were bleached successfully will take to the colour, which means they will actually dye purple. I would go to the supermarket tomorrow and buy $10 blonde shampoo, it might not be the best shampoo but its likely to help, until you can afford a good toner which usually cost about $40.

I want to say it was a huge mistake for you to have blished your hair in the first place. You can your hair and allow it to grow new one

Uh, I think that would make your hair purple. Just buy a toner.
