Why do my eyes tear for no reason?

Heat rash around newborn babys eyes?

  • I gave birth to beautiful baby girl 2 weeks ago and for some reason every time she wakes up from nap or sleep she has a lot of boogers around her eyes, sometimes her eyes are shut closed. I asked her doc and she said its normal for newborn babies cuz their tear ducts are developing. Yesterday morning after she woke up from her sleep I used baby wipes to clean around her eyes and I noticed last night she developed rash and the skin under and above her eyes are red. I wish I didn't use the wipes to clean around her eyes but now I think that's what caused the rash. What can I do to get rid of the rash around her eyes. It doesn't look like its bothering her but it doesn't look pleasant. I only used the wipes cuz I thought they didn't have scent, realized later on they did. I read that breast milk has millions of bacteria fighting nutrition and one can use it to for the eyes to help and I was wondering if anyone has used it before to help with rash and other things?

  • Answer:

It is normal. Just use a cotton ball soaked in warm water to clean the area. It will dissolve the hardened gunk. My daughter had the same problem. As for the irritation from the wipes, it'll clear up on its own. Even gentle, unscented wipes can irritate baby skin. Just use warm water when it comes to the face.

Her tear ducts are blocked. Most wil clear by a year, if they don`t they will need surgery. Both my children had this, ne cleared the other had surgery. Use a warm, damp cloth, you can hold it on her eyes to let the crusts dissovle before you wipe. For the rash, same thing, warm water wipe once or twice a day.

my girls had the same thing. If you squrt a little breastmilk in their eye it clears right up. It maybe come back a few weeks later but u just keep doing it. Both my girls grew out of it by 8 weeks or so.

Just wipe her face with a cool wet baby cloth a few times a day and it will go away in no time. She has allergies so skin and body is really sensitive and also if your eating egg and peanuts or peanut butter that may be the cause of her allergies.

It's a clogged tear duct. My little guy has the same thing and I massage his tear duct with my pinkie finger and clean his eyes with a warm wet cloth. You can put expressed breast milk on it, it seems to help my son.
