What happen if you don't renew your green card when you turn 14 ?

• I didn't know that i have to renew my green card for new picture and bio metric fingerprint when i turn 14, and i heard that it is require by law to get a new green card when i turn 14. I'm currently 16, my green card will not expire until i'm turning 22. my uncle don't want to pay the $530 fees that it will cost to renew my green card to get a new picture and fingerprint, Will i get in any troubles when i try to apply for citizenship ? Will using the old green card affect me in anyway ( beside that i can't get a driver license or permit unless i get a new green card ) p/s : i traveled outside of the US last year ( when i was 15 ) with my old green card, no one said anything about my green card whatsoever, they just let me re-enter into the US after they look at my card.

  Since the card is valid until you reach age 22, you will have no problem with a drivers license or employment until then. Even though you are required to renew the card now, it will not effect your immigration status if you do not. As indicated, you cannot obtain citizenship without obtaining the new card first.
