How To Stop Dog's Itching?

My dog won't stop itching?

  • My dog Lucy has been itching like crazy the past two weeks. We just put Advantage on her for fleas last week but she hasn't stopped itching. She has no hair loss or any other symptoms. Just major itching. We bought a shampoo off Petmeds for itching but that didn't even work. Whats wrong with her?

  • Answer:

She could have allergies, she could have some type of bacterial infection or mites or it could be some underlying health issues like a nerve disorder. If she does have allergies, they can easily be treated. Allergies cannot be treated or stopped w/ Advantage Flea Preventative or Any Flea Preventative or Shampoo, she'll need to be put on some type of Antihistamine Medication like Benadryle or whatever else the Vet prescribes. I'd take her to the Vet, there could be tons of things wrong with her, and getting her on flea medication and buying medicated shampoo's won't help cure or stop her itching unless you learn what is wrong with her and the only way you can know for sure is to take her to the Vet.

Other answers

Why would you leave your poor dog to itch for two weeks? If that were you, would you not seek some medical attention?: My dog was itching, and on the second day, I called the vet, took him in, and he was given a cortisone injection - no more itching.

Allergies or not rinsed enough or anything. You need to see the vet.
