Were there ever transatlantic flights into LaGuardia Airport?

Puppy causing chaos at the Airport? Your thoughts & story inside? ->?

  • NEW YORK (AP) — A puppy named Byrdie delayed several flights at New York's LaGuardia Airport when she escaped from her crate and frolicked around a busy runway. The Port Authority says the 30-pound Rhodesian ridgeback scampered around the runway for about 10 minutes on Wednesday while authorities unsuccessfully tried to collar her. The agency says they had to find the pooch's owner aboard the Memphis-bound Delta Air Lines Airbus to help catch it. The owner was brought out on to the runway. She called out to the 14-month-old pup and she came running to her.

  • Answer:

It makes me smile. Totally not the owners or puppies fault. It was the airport luggage handlers fault. Why did they open the puppies crate? And the idiots were probably trying to chase her on the runway, and the puppy thought they were playing chase. Never chase a puppy. You'll never catch it. When it's owner called it, it came immediately to her. It was actually a very well behaved puppy.

Its happened before and it will happen again. Animals always get out of those cheap carriers. There was a case of two dogs getting out on the plane and fighting leaving one dead. And dogs on the runway is not uncommon. Its a failure on the Airlines Part ( Somehow always Delta). They need to either fix the cages, or ban pets from boarding unless they are small enough to be with their owners.

a Rhodesian ridgeback could probably bring down a small airplane. 30 pounds as a pup. 200 pounds fully grown. They were bred to protect cattle from lions. An airplane is not going to phase them.

Hmmm, I wonder if some happless airline employee decided to pet the cute doggie...Or dropped the cage.
