What are laptop symptoms to detect pc problems?

Hp wireless card, problems for my PC?

• Can someone tell me if there is a problem with the wireless capabilities I paid for in the Desktop or if that is just the way it goes? I just purchased a new Desktop. I purchased it online from HP. It is a HP Pavilion p6t series. Immediately when I started the computer I had trouble with using the Wireless function I paid extra for. After a lot of moving it around an testing, I figured out that the power of the card is very small. I have a laptop to cross reference with. When the laptop has full connectivity the desktop has only 2/5. When I move about 15 feet away the laptop has 4/5 connectivity and the desktop does not even detect the signal. The laptop has an Atheros AR5007 802.11b/g WiFi adapter The Desktop is not as clear an just says 802.11n Wireless LAN Card Can someone tell me if there is a problem with the wireless capabilities I paid for in the Desktop or if that is just the way it goes? Thank you so much, the people I tried to explain this to at HP support did not really understand the problem.

  You may need to change the kind of wifi you are using. Note that your desktop is using "n" and not "b/g" You can check your router's settings (ymmv regarding your setup). Open your browser and navigate to 192.168.1.1 and make sure you are using both g and n. You should also be aware that proximity to routers is important, but also the position of the antennae in both the card on your computer and the router and remove as many obstructions as possible between the two points. You hardware is probably fine. I hope that helps.
