Is it possible to dub onto a DVD recorder?

If I dub a VHS to DVD in HQ, will the DVD hold an entire movie?

  • The DVD +R's that I'm using are 4.7GB. The VHS/DVD recorder has dub modes that range from HQ (1 Hr) to SLP (6 Hr). (this is already sounding like a mathematical word problem...) If I'm going to dub one movie per DVD, is it going to hold a regular length movie in HQ? If it makes a difference, the machine is a Magnavox ZV427MG9 A (Digital Video Disc Recorder & Video Cassette Recorder) This HQ (1 Hr) business seems to have nothing to do with how many minutes you're going to wind up with in the end and I'm absolutely confused. I don't want to burn up all my DVD's finding out the hard way and I really don't wish to waste 3 hours of my time when I have about 200 VHS tapes I'm trying to convert to DVD. I want to dub them in the best possible quality I can.

  • Answer:

Try 1. If it works, then yes. If it doesnt, then no.
