Which solid state hard drive should I purchase?

Switching Default Hard drive's?

  • OK, so my computer came with a SSD and a HDD. The solid state drive didn't come with much memory because it has my operating system on it and so on. My 2 terabyte hard drive is my secondary hard drive known as New volume (I:) I want my hard drive to become my default / primary hard drive instead of my SSD. Is this possible? would i have to re download my Operating system? The reasons why I want to do it is just out of plain annoyance. I have my music from itunes on my Hard drive, but when i purchase more music, it gets put into my SSD, so everytime i buy any, i have to move it over. I also generally like have the whole "Libraries" thing for organizational purposes because it sorts all the music files into the music category, the documents into the document category Ect. Oh yeah, and sometimes things will randomly be saved onto my SSD even though i made a path tellng it where to download to!

  • Answer:

If you want to use your hard-drive as your 'main' (read, Boot drive) drive, then you will have to put an operating system on it. However, what you can do is simply change the location that iTunes downloads your music to. I don't have experience with iTunes myself, however I wouldn't be surprised if they give you the option to change where your music goes during downloads in some sort of settings menu. This way you can keep your SSD for boot and programs, improving their loading performance, and still using your HDD for storage.
