Why is my computer screen dark?

Why does my computer screen goes dark after couple of minutes if i dont press of move the mouse?

  • sometimes i leave my computer on for about 5 minutes and i don't touch or move the mouse and the screen goes black why is that is there something wrong with my computer because i got a big download 3 hours and if i leave my computer on for 3 hours will i get a virus or something like that

Don't worry about downloading the thing, as long as you know the download itself doesn't have a virus. The act of downloading something won't give your computer a virus, but sometimes people put viruses in downloads to screw up your computer.

Your screen saver or sleep mode is probably set for 5 minutes. Assuming you have Windows 7 right click on the desktop, click personalize, click screen saver, click Change Power Settings, click Change When The Computer Sleeps. If that doesn't work explore some of the other settings in the Change Power Settings Window.

it is most likely your screensaver it is used to save power but you can ether change it or disable it in the control panel under the Appearance and Personalization
