How do I change my pop-ups settings?

Can I use MIDI messages to change the settings on my synth?

  • Okay, I have a Roland Juno-G. I also have Ableton Live on my computer. I play in a band, and we play music live... the keyword here is live. Everything I've looked up on how to use MIDI seems to tell me what to do if I wanted to use a sequencer or record something then manipulate the recording. So, is it even possible to use MIDI to JUST change the settings on my synth? Am I not using the right programs or something? All I want to do is be able to set up MIDI messages that will change my presets on my keyboard when I need to change a bunch of settings at once. As stated earlier everything I see seems to be geared toward people who don't actually PLAY their instrument, they just record stuff and manipulate the recording. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with that, but it helps me about as much as dirt helps food taste better. I'm fairly sure I'm lacking some sort of hardware or perhaps even software if what I want to do can be done, but the fact that I can't find ANY documentation on how to do what I want means there's no way for me to figure out what I need to get. I guess my question is if I don't have what I need, what do I need to get? If I do have everything I need, how do I adjust settings on my synth through midi messages? From what I understand MIDI can control lights, pyrotechnics and other stuff so if it can do that it must be able to do what I want it to. If someone can direct me to a helpful source of information that would be great.
