Can I use universal remote on an old analogue tv?

What do I need to do to get an old analogue TV which worked on an aerial to work on sky?

  • I have an old analogue tv which worked fine on an aerial.My current tv has packed in and I want to use the old analogue tv and I have sky.Please can someone give me step by step instructions how to make it work.Thanks

    If your old television has a SCART socket then just connect the Sky box using a SCART lead (get one from your nearest tv shop, they're cheap). Set the telly to the SCART input (probably called AV1 or similar) and do all your future tuning on the Sky box. If your television does not have a SCART socket the connect the aerial OUT socket of the Sky box to the aerial socket of the telly with a short "jumper" (get one from the local tv shop). Switch on the Sky box and run an auto-tune on the telly. It will find the Sky box output somewhere around channel 36. Leave the telly set to that channel and do all your future tuning on the Sky box.

There should be a RV aerial output on your sky box which will plug into your tv through the aerial co axial cable its called. Plug it into your tv and tune it in as normal and should see it appear on your screen.

better picture quality will be achieved using scart connections just plug in a scart lead and select the relevant AV or EXTN the picture will be there.If the TV is so old that it doesn't have scart sockets you will have to connect using an aeriel lead .Female socket end attach to RF1 output on rear of Sky box Male socket plugs into aeriel socket on rear of TV. Scan for signal at 68 on the scale
