How can I connect my camcorder to my PC? HELP?

How do I connect 8mm tape camcorder to PC?

  • Points to remember: I have a new usb EasyCap video capture device I have an old handycam vision Sony 8mm tape camcorder, (video 8 XR) There are NO USB port on the camcorder I think i just need something to connect the capture device to the camcorder. If it's helpful the camcorder has a yellow and black audio video outlet, the capture a red, white and yellow and s.video cable. I've got a yellow, red and white lead that connects to the camcorder and the capture device but it was bought independently and had nothing to do with the camcoder or the device but it is the only thing that connected so not sure if i should be using it. Also sometimes when i connect it to the camcorder and the capture device it causes the XP computer a BSOD. In any case neither the capture device video software nor Windows Movie Maker recognises it. So is there another and safer option?

    connect the camcorder yellow to EZcap yellow, and camcorder black to EZcap white. don't connect anything to EZcap red (that would be for right channel audio, but your audio is mono). Use the software that came bundled with the EZcap.

I was in the exact same situation you were in. Same device, same type of camera ect... I managed to get it to work to some extent. I used the EasyCap only for Video and i plugged the audio (white and red cables) into an external USB device (my mixing board) The only problem was that the audio and video didnt line up. I also managed to capture all of my tapes through the Ulead program that came with EasyCap. That's honestly your best bet.
