Are these track spikes good, and which one is better?

Do long jump spikes really make a difference?

  • i am in track and i have high jump spikes which i like very much compared to my old sprinting spikes i used to jump in. i have outgrown my sprinting spikes and am currently running and long jumping in my mid-distance spikes. i wasn't sure if i should invest the money in long jump spikes or not. i have only seen one person with them before and wasn't sure if they would actually help me. i am currently jumping anywhere from mid to high 19s to high 20s and still increasing slowly. my school recor dis 23'6.5" and i'ma sophomore jumping pretty much 21' on a good day with my PR being 20'11" so i was just wanting to know if i got long jump spikes or "jump spikes" as i've seen them called on websites if they would help me jump farther or are a waste of money.

  • Answer:

Middle distance or sprint spikes will work well in long jump. You do not need different pairs of spikes for related events. Buying long jump spikes is not going to enable you to jump farther than you can jump wearing sprint or middle distance spikes.
