How can I send large files to someone?
-
I have some files I would like to send, up to 30-40 GB, and I would like to send them all at once. How can I do that? Sidenote: I would like to do it in a way that the other person cannot access my pc. I know that FTP programs can have a two way kind of thing, but I just want to send, without the other person having access to my computer. Another sidenote: it needs to be free. :) Any suggestions?

Answer:
You can use Google Drive, but then you can only move about 5GB at a time. There is no FREE, easy, perfectly safe solution to your problem... besides as mentioned above you can use a USB.

right click on the file then select send then compressed zip folder this will take the folder and compress it the other person will need a unzipper like 7zip to unzip it but you will be able to compress it im not sure what size it will be after that but it will be much smaller you might try experimenting after that i never tried sending a file that large but you can always try email or some file host like box.net or a torrent client with uttorent or if all else fails you can probably get it on a data disk and mail it i suppose it depends on how small it ends up if it only 3 or 4 gb maybe you can email it
You could try using TeamViewer VPN (or log me in VPN), I don't know if theres a limit on file size, and I know they cap your speeds for free edition, so you may need to wait a few days. (!)Or if your up to the task, use uTorrent or Bittorrent to create a tracker to your file, then send the tracker to the recipients. May take some time depending on your upload speed, but its probably the best way. -Just make sure the files are not something you could get in trouble for sharing..
You could always have the OTHER person set up an ftp server on their end, then you can connect and upload. It would be best this way, because your ftp clients are designed to support any and every file you throw at them. Other than that (short of mailing the drive back and forth), it's going to cost you money.
Ouch! 30-40 GB ???? You may have to get a usb drive and just mail it to them. I am not totally up on all the file sharing protocols, but this seems a little big to upload and download.
Free options FTP: 3-6 days of continuous downloading Setting up a torrent: If it's one seed as in one person, it could take weeks to months to send on a continuous connection Using a free online storage like Google Drive or Dropbox: fill it up, have them download from it. Fill it back up. Have them download from it. (Days) Practical options: Buy a USB and mail it If you're set on free, I'd do the online storage and share the link to the person.
