What is the USA national bank?

What would happen if I left Australia to move back to the USA without paying my Australian bank debts?

  • Hypothetical question. I am a US citizen but an Australian Permanent resident working in Australia for the last 5 years. Other than basic phone bills, rent, and such, I have a $14,000 personal bank loan and a $9000 credit card with the same bank. What would happen if I simply bought a plane ticket and left the country and moved back to the USA without paying these debts? Would they track me down based on passport information and send debt collectors (or mail) to me? If I never answered these letters and ignored possible phone calls what would happen? Would Australia work with the USA to make me pay these back? Would the USA cooperate with Australia to track down where I am find my personal info? Will I always be on the run? What if they found me but I told them I wasn't going to pay them back? Could I ever apply for a USA credit card, home loan, etc? I know that when applying for a credit card in another country I am basically given a clean slate and they cannot look into my USA credit report. Don't think they have access to find that info out overseas. Obviously I wouldn't be trying to get back into Australia...ever. I know this is a stupid idea but just wondering how the rest of my life would play out if I just took off? Serious answers only please.

  • Answer:

They would track you down and have you declared bankrupt until you clear your debts! And Yes your records can be looked in to! #Debt can never be run away from!
