Ex Wants To Be Friends But, Wants A Second Chance ?

No one cheated or anything like that. We kinda already knew it wasn't going to work. I didn't really put enough effort [one reason] and he wanted to move it to the next level [have sex second Reason] but i wasn't ready yet. We agreed on staying friends because we like talking to each other but gave it some time before we could talk normal. But a few months ago, he wanted to give it another try. He wanted to know what I have done after the break up and he was going to do the same to me. So he told me what he has done which included telling me he had sex with some girl for a while and i told him what I have done which was like nothing. Soon as i thought and had my high hopes of an "us" again, he came to me a few weeks later saying " Whats going on with us? I told you im not really ready to jump into anything im not. i just wanna be able to talk to you like before like when we flirted and were cool". My feelings for him went down right then and there. To the point that i just don't care for him as i did like before, i feel for him the same feelings as a friend. The thing is that he says he's not ready but still wants it to be a lil possibility not completely wasted. Saying he doesn't want to lose me but it's too hard because i guess he wants another chance. Is it possible to be friends with an ex who's like that or should i just get away for a while ? Does he know what he wants or he does he want to try it with other girls so if later it doesn't work with them he knows i will still be here ? I don't like him anymore. No feelings nothing just a simple care as a friend. i don't mind being friends because im over it and know it just didn't work out. so whatever, it's life but yeah i don't know about him.. ...Trying to go with the flow and be friends but it's just too complicated. he wants to be friends but he still has his cute name calling on deck so what the hell.. By The Way, We went out for 5 months, stayed in 1st & 2nd base..
