Is there a way to migrate software from windows to ubuntu?

I have Windows 7 and Ubuntu installed on the same machine, and would like to migrate all of my programs (and their data if possible) from Windows 7 to Ubuntu. is there an easy way to do this?

Answer:
The answer is no. Linux will only work with a limited number of Window basic programs. You would need to find similar software that is open source to install in Linux.

U can transver files from win 7 to ubuntu by a USB (Copy files into the usb when running Win 7 eject the usb.Start ubuntu and cpy the files from the usb to youre desktop while running ubuntu) but some programs won't work "cuzz some programs are made to work on win 7 only so better search on the internet for the same or similar programs that work on ubuntu Hope i helped.
You can move the program files folder via usb to ubuntu and then use wine (http://www.winehq.org/) or (Search wine @ ubuntu program center) Wine will run any windows program on ubuntu. Good Luck :)
Not really, unfortunately. Converting programs to run in a different operating system is possible IF you have access to the source code and you have serious programming chops--you have to know what you're doing. I can't do it, for instance. Your basic applications: Windows Explorer, Notepad, etc. will have equivalents in Ubuntu which work similarly (Nautilus, Mousepad, etc.); that's something you'll just have to get used to. It's not so bad after a while. For other programs (games, applications you've paid for, etc.) you have basically two choices in Ubuntu. You can try to run them in Wine--Wine is actually pretty good, considering what it has to do...but running programs in a different operating system is no easy task. Many Windows programs run fine in it, especially popular older software because those programs will have gotten more attention from the Wine community. New software, and obscure titles, tend to be very shaky. My boss brought me an old recipe-keeping program he used to use, MasterCook 6. It kinda ran, but wouldn't display the actual recipes(!). Tweaking Wine didn't help, but I found a workaround that at least let him copy off his recipes so he could paste them into another program. Your other option within Ubuntu is to install Virtualbox and set up a copy of Windows to run your Windows apps. That's clunky, but at least it'll let you run those programs without rebooting.
No. This is not possible. Windows software does not run natively in Linux, you have to use either WINE or virtualization. And since not all Windows software works under WINE, and those that do work to varying degrees of success, it isn't possible to take all the programs and associated data on a Windows installation and transfer it over to Linux.
