Treated a stain with hydrogen peroxide and it bubbled, is blood the only thing to do this?
-
I had a stain on my sock, which I treated with hydrogen peroxide and it began to bubble. Is blood the only thing that could do this? I really have no idea how blood could have gotten on my sock and the stain looked more like dirt than blood, in fact didn't think it could be blood till it bubbled... kinda freaking out about it... because I have no idea where it came from... thoughts?

Answer:
Uh...I'm not too sure about this, but..., hydrogen peroxide bubbles when you mix it with blood because of a special enzyme called catalase, which helps to release the oxygen gas. This catalase also exists in plant and animal cells. So, I don't think it's too big of a thing to worry about
