How to get rid of the smell from indoor climbing shoes?

My work shoes smell awful! How can I get rid of the smell?

  • I work at a restaurant probably 25-35 hours a week, and I wear these shoes everyday. The smell is terrible when putting them on, and when I sit down I can smell them also. I've never had this problem before, and it's not like my feet are gross or anything. I've purchased these odor blocks that I can put in my shoes when I get home, but that still does not work at all. I've even tried Febreze and shoe spray. Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated!

    Always wear cotton and thick socks so that the sweat gets absorbed, make sure to avoid synthetic materials as they don't absorb moisture easily. You can also newspaper coated with talcum powder.

i saw on the doctors, put them in the freezer. In a zip lock baggie of course but its suppose to help :)

You might just have to get new shoes. You could try Bleach and Hydrogen Peroxide. Dip like a tooth brush or some other brush in either liquid and just scrub! Maybe even Alcohol? If you want a quick fix, try dryer sheets. Also, you could just throw away the removable insole(rip it out if need be) and just buy a new one. Maybe even just throw them in the washer (will fade and roughen up shoes sometimes) and just air dry. Hope I helped!

Baking soda is a miracle it'll get rid of the smell. Although I would suggest getting new shoes also. Do you wear socks? Do they smell because you sweat? If its because you sweat you could try adding powder in your socks to prevent dampness.
