Why is my ear is throbbing?

Why do I have a constant throbbing in my ear?

  • Im 16 and about a month anf a bit ago I noticed my ear started feeling like it was always blocked I could hear this faint 'swooooosh' sound Now it seems to be getting louder and louder! I can hear the swoosh with this throbbing, and it gets so noticeable when its quiet It really disturbs and gets in the way of my homework school work studying sleep and simply quiet time cause I can't stop messing with my ear! I've also noticed that when I touch my neck it stops? But when I let go again it comes back louder?? What's wrong? I told my mum but she won't take me to the doctors cause she says it doesn't sound too serious :/

  • Answer:

Otalgia or an earache is ear pain. Primary otalgia is ear pain that originates inside the ear. Referred otalgia is ear pain that originates from outside the ear. Otalgia is not always associated with ear disease. It may be caused by several other conditions, such as impacted teeth, sinus disease, inflamed tonsils, infections in the nose and pharynx, throat cancer, and occasionally as a sensory aura that precedes a migraine
