How to get videos from my compact VHS, to my computer?

How to get videos from a kodak camera on my computer?

  • I filmed a few videos on my camera (its a kodak easyshare M530) and when i plugged it into the computer and imported all the pictures and videos it only imported the audio on the videos and not the video itself. does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? how can i get these videos onto my computer properly? thankss(:

  • Answer:

you haven't said if you are using the Kodak software or using something else like Windows Media Player. Chances are the entire file was imported correctly, but your viewer does not have the video codec. you can get a free quicktime viewer downloaded for your Windows computer which is probably what you are missing.

The way I do it is go to the start menu, go to computer, then select the Kodak icon. Click to open and there should be files that open up on the camera. One will be something like DCIM.....I then find the video's and right click and do a copy and then paste them to my desktop for easy access. Play them on your normal player such as Quicktime. If you have any other programme that you can view them through then watch and save in a format that will play both audio and visual. See if that works. As for why it wont work on yours normally I think it may be a compatibility issue if you aren't using the normal Kodak software or you are opening it up on an app, such as Windows Media player and your movies are just being accepted as audio. Try choosing another app from your selection of loaded programmes. (the right click and Open With option)

Just plug in your camera and after easyshare opens .....close it completely after doing this open the my computer screen and double click on the camera...then drag and drop whichever files you like ...i have 3 easyshare cameras and it works with all of them.

Have you updated the driver for the camera recently? And your Easyshare software? If you go to the Kodak site, you can download both the manual (with has troubleshooting) and update the driver and Easyshare.
