Whats the difference between ballet school and a normal public school?

• I'm just wondering, does the students in art school learn the exact same thing that us, public school students learn in school? How's the curriculum like? Do you dance all the time? Or how about the test? Do you have to dance perfectly to pass the test? Does art school take education seriously? What are the main subjects in ballet school? I'm in a public school, and I'm 15 years of age. I have been dancing for 9 years now, and I've been thinking about going to a ballet school/private school right after the summer ends. It'd be a lot beneficial for me to go to a ballet school because I really do love dancing and I'm not good at education at all. People actually make fun of me because I dance, and it's my passion. I usually get C or Bs in test, so I figured that im not smart after all and also whats the point of staying at a place where all the people make fun of what I'm passionate about?

  It would depend on the school. A performing arts school would have all the same classes but an art block, say 3 hours of dance, then lunch then academics. They would not take gym classes and other electives are not usually open to a dance major in a performing arts school. At a strictly ballet school like the School of American Ballet or other feeder schools to professional ballet companies, many of the dancers are home schooled or have arrangements with a local school for their academics. Serious ballet students take multiple ballet classes daily and graduate high school early so they can dance in the ballet as an apprentice at age 16 and then corps de ballet about 6 months later if asked. Even in schools that have the academics integrated with ballet classes more along the lines of a performing arts school, you still need to get your high school diploma for them to be accredited. That is only not true if it is a ballet school and nothing else. In that case you have to get academics elsewhere.
