What local grocery store has the best prices?

I don't understand fruit prices at the grocery store...Can someone explain?

  • Ok, pardon me if this makes me look really stupid but I just don't understand how to calculate the cost of fruit at the grocery store. I mean, I know how to do math, I just don't understand how they present it to you EX: Grapes at my store are selling for $1.29 lb/ 3.24kg ...I just don't understand. I don't know if they mean $1.29 per pound (which I doubt since they usually just say that), if a pound is divided by 3.24kg and then multiplied by $1.29. Yeah, maybe I'm making this more difficult then it needs to be but can someone just explain this to me lol Thanks in advance and please don't try to judge aha. I mean its not keeping me up at night but I just wanna understand this

  • Answer:

It means that if you are buying in lbs it is $1.29 If you ar buying in kgs it works out at $2.48 If you divide $2.48 by 2.25 you will roughly have the lb price. There is roughly 2lbs to the kg. We had all of that dual pricing when we went metrics years ago.

The price per pound and per kilogram are the same price. One kilogram is about 2.2 pounds, so 1.29 per pound would be 2.84/kg.

Well, I think it is because the USA is the only place left in the world that insists on using ounces and pounds. With the population being such a melting pot it makse sense they would use the most used weigh system, metric.

the only way I can understand this that the bag contains 3.24 kg../ which are 6 pounds 1.29 per pound, but its easy just to ask the veggie manager...
