Should I become a PA or a Doctor?

• Currently, I'm enrolled in a 5-year accelerated Physician's Assistant program. I'm a freshman in college & I'm planning out my schedule for next semester. In the PA track, it requires us to take Bio-organic Chemistry. However, in the Premed track it requires us to take Organic Chemistry. Lately, I've been indecisive on whether I want to become a PA and stick with the 5-yr accelerated PA program, then become a doctor or whether I should just strictly become a PA. Some outside facts to keep in mind: I graduated 2nd in my high school class of 203 students with a gpa of 4.68 (weighted) out of 5. Moreover, I've always wanted to become a doctor but I chickened out and I guess I got lazy and decided to take the easy way out & just become a PA. However, I'm still undecided on what to do because I want to make sure I prepare myself for the future, whether it is I go to PA school or Med school. All my friends & family & even faculty tell me that I am definitely capable of handling med school, however I myself am unsure. What do you think I should do? Become a PA then be a doctor or strictly become a PA. Also, should I take bio-organic or organic chemistry?

  Go into medicine. You won't regret it. PA is a great job, but I think you have a higher caliber.
