Moving from MI to PA for college, where can i find resources for information about the state?
-
Im moving from Michigan to Pennsylvania, for college this august, as a new adult I don't know a whole lot about my own states policies regarding insurance, government programs, or anything of that sort, and none the less don't know anything about pennsylvania and their policies either, What are some resources I can use to find everything I need to know before moving out of state, or a good guide to moving out of state? Any ideas?

Answer:
State of Pennsylvania Homepage http://pa.gov/portal/server.pt/community/pa_gov/20387 Ask PA (A library chat service) http://www.askherepa.org/ (You can ask anything!) Your college will have offices for student life, organizations, job searching, etc - really get to know your college Website and services on campus! Your campus library will also have information both in print and online through its Website - including a chat service. Examples: http://www.libraries.psu.edu/psul/help.html http://refchat.library.upenn.edu/ http://www.northampton.edu/Library/Research-Assistance/Ask-the-Librarian.htm

Congrats for starting college very soon! If you are a traditional college student who plans to live in college-owned dormitories and your parent(s) own your car (if you're taking one), then congrats, again, embrace your extended adolescence. You shouldn't have to worry about renter's and/or car insurance. If your parents own the car you drive, then don't bother changing plates, getting new insurance, etc. For health insurance, if you're not under your parent's coverage, then your university should offer you coverage, and you should pay for it. Health insurance is smart.

It's smart to do some research ahead of time but questions about PA will also be great ice-breakers for you as a new student. You can ask fellow students a lot of what you need to know and most people are happy to help out a newcomer. So don't go in with too much information or you will run out of conversational starters real fast!

Not sure if this is what you're looking for...... http://www.dmv.org/pa-pennsylvania/new-to-pennsylvania.php You may also want to search the Chamber of Commerce in the area you choose to live (Central, etc.) they often answer alot of questions.
