Which undergraduate degree would be best for Pharmacy school?

Is it a good idea to get a bachelor degree before applying to a pharmacy school ?

  • Hello, everyone..... I am a pre-pharmacist at community college, currently taking courses toward my associate degree of science. Is it easier to get into a pharmacy school with a bachelor degree than an associate ?

    Although most pharm.D programs don't "require" you to have a bachelors degree (some do) they still require more hard science classes then most community colleges offer. Also, most applicants do hold a bachelors degree whether its required or not. Admission is pretty competitive so while you may meet the minimum requirements with an associates degree, you are putting yourself at a disadvantage versus the applicants who hold degrees like a BS in chemistry. Yes it is much eaiser for you to get in with a ba than an aa. Plus you want to have some sort of back up in case you dont get in. Also keep in mind community colleges do get looked down on so make sure you have a 3.8 min g.p.a there. As long as you have really high grades at a community college they will accept you. My friend had a 3.5 gpa from harvard in chemistry my other friend had a 3.7 gpa from chemistry from a cal state university. Guess who got in? The one from harvard because the course work is harder so considering its community college the courses have to be a joke. Good luck :)
