When you buy something on ebay how do you pay?

What happens if you buy something on Ebay, and then you don't pay for it?

  • I saw this really pretty dress on Ebay, and i stupidly clicked buy. And also one of those ones where instead of using pay pal you just deposit money straight into there account. I changed my mind and don't want to buy the dress now, and also the seller didnt leave there bank account details so I can't deposit money into the sellers account anyway because they didn't leave there details so i can't actaully pay. If i don't pay or anything and just leave it will I get into some legal kind of trouble? Thanks

    If you do not pay in 4 days, the Seller might open an unpaid item case against you through eBay. Then someone from eBay will contact you and request you to pay. Again after 4 days, the Seller may close the case stating that he did not receive his money and an unpaid item case will be registered against your eBay A/c. eBay may ban you if you repeat this on purpose with other Sellers.

You can get into trouble for it. eBay has a policy against it and it has legal ramifications. You should send an email to the seller, advising them that you no longer wish to purchase the item, and that you couldn't pay anyway, asking them to resell. If you keep the seller sweet, then they shouldn't open a dispute against you.

Normally they can give you a bad mark or ebay might even ban you, but you could always say that you didn't realize it was paying with your bank account and you assumed it was pay pal. They might let you go. I think it's mostly foreign countries where they ask for payment by bank account. I would never trust anyone with my bank info. There is no legal trouble because it's just a website.

They will usually just resell the item. It's nothing to worry about. When I was little I bout a $200 scooter of eBay without telling them! Lucky for me when I didn't pay all was forgotten!
