Should i watch Dragonball or Dragonball Z first?

It is not better just different I found Dragon Ball to be better in my opinion, but that is all in the type of genre you like. Dragon Ball focuses on more the adventure part and you get the back stories on how they meet and the reasons and creation of the Dragon Balls I would say it should be watched first, but is not necessary in understanding Dragon Ball Z. DBZ focuses more on the action and has more fighting and flashy moves. You do have to understand I have to check to be sure but the artwork in DBZ is better as it is newer but there is a few errors that show up as mistakes while I did not see any in DB leading me to believe they took a little more time with it as there are no long drawn out fight scenes.

You don't necessarily have to see the original first. I actually saw DBZ before Dragon Ball, and it wasn't that hard to follow. However, I'd still recommend seeing the original. Many fans aren't that crazy for the original, but I personally loved it. In fact, I'd have a hard time choosing between it and DBZ. It depends on your preferences. DBZ is much more serious and action-oriented. Dragonball, on the other hand, is very quirky and humorous. The arcs in DBZ are a lot longer, whereas the Dragonball arcs usually feature several different plots, and aren't nearly as long. In other words, they don't drag on for a unnecessary large amount of time, like in DBZ. The fights in DBZ are much more frantic, and are usually centered around the characters overpowering one another. While in DragonBall, the fights feel a lot more down to earth. The fights usually have the characters relying a lot on strategy, rather than just power. All in all, the two series are very similar, yet in many ways different. I'd definitely give the original a try, but it's not like you have to see it.

i think you should watch dragon ball first, dragon ball introduces you to all the characters, were they came from, it also shows goku's childhood, dragon ball shows you how everything came to be, so it makes dragon ball z more exiting. watch dragon ball first and then dragon ball z.

Most of the meaty content is in DragonBall Z. This is why it's the target of a new high end independently produced fan film featuring the Saiyan Saga. Go watch DBZ first.

watch dragon ball first, keep watching it, DBZ has some flashbacks of the original DB somewhere and it will spoil it for you but if you really want to then go ahead =)

Z was much better than the original DB, plus you don't really need to see all of DB to understand Z. Just go watch Z.
