What are the example for enviornmental impact assesment?

How do you know if business is having an impact on technology or if technology is having an impact on business?

• An easy example is an university, the main objective for lecturers are to teach, but still in modern universities ALL lecturers have computers, why? In this example its clear that the technology (being the computer) is driving (or having an impact on) the business. But what about a situation like a bank (being the business) and a tablet (being the technology)? If a bank gives a customer more and more option online (internet banking, payments, prepiad, even booking and paying for certain tickets and events) more people will start buyintg tablets to make use of these applications. Is this business then having an impact (or driving) the technology ? I know this sounds very confusing, but believe me i feel just as confused! Please dont hesitate to use your own example to try and explain what you think ? Just name the technology and name the business......
