Cutting Sim Card To Micro-Sim Card Size?

I want an Iphone 4s but Im getting a cheap unlocked one. I want to know if I cut my sim card thats on a plan to a micro sim card size will it still work, I'm really sketchy on this. Also if I cut my sim card will I still have the same number and all the benefits from my plan. I just don't want to cut my sim card up the realise it doesn't work and have to go out buy a new sim-card and get a new number. Any information on this would be a lot of help thanks.

If you get a new sim card you don't get a new number, that information is transferred. You should be able to use all of the functions under your plan, if you're not very precise then you can buy a sim card cutter on eBay for like ten bucks, worth the money unless your replaces sim cards are free. When I had to replace sim card on tmobile they gave it to me for free but I've heard they cost ten dollars so I'm not sure. It's not easy to just go out and "buy" a micro sim card if your phone company doesn't carry them :/ try going into tmobile and saying you want a special made sim for your iPhone and you'll get laughed out of that store.
