Can i use a splitter on my existing sky tv line so i can use it for a Sky Plus Box?
-
Hello, i currently have 2 lines coming from my sat. first of all i have a Sky HD line running downstairs for the Sky Plus HD box, i then have a single line for standard Sky running to the upstairs of my house, i want to upgrade this box to a sky Plus box, (not HD) however this box has 2 signal inputs, would it be possible to run this box using a line splitter or would i need to run a complete new (or) second line from the sat?

Answer:
You need another lead to the LNB. Sky+ needs twin inputs to enable it to correctly download the EPG and also to allow it to record one channel whilst you watch another. Y-splitting a single lead will not do that and the weakened signal will cause picture freezing and pixellation. As you need to run another lead it makes sense to replace the existing single with a twin lead.
