What beaches in California have white sand?

Where are the white sand beaches in California?

  • Answer:

Windansea beach in San Diego has some of the "Whitest" I can recall seeing in CA. None are even close to white sand in Northern CA. South Laguna has a few ones that are so-so Like others have said, California doesn't have true white sand beach. Baja California Sur does have some however, a relatively short plane ride south. Cheers!

Much like SoCal itself, the sand here is a mixture of colors. Overall, it's a light beige color. If you look closely, you'll see many colors all mixed in, forming one homogenous blend. Sandy beaches run all the way from Santa Barbara to the Mexican border. Malibu, Huntington, and Santa Monica are all popular beaches here. If you are thinking of white Hawaiian-type sand, that comes from volcanos. Ours have been extinct for millenia.

There aren't any. Try Malibu Beach---the sand isn't white, but it's clean.
